GMC Contracting, Inc. is a civil construction company that was founded in 1979. Our experience with underground utilities and road construction across Alaska is long and varied. We have built underground pipeline through swamps, across streams and rivers, and in extremely deep trenches.
We bring a team approach to our projects, working with the owner to provide assurance that they have selected a contractor that will deliver the desired outcome. This eliminates the normal conflicts that arise in projects and assures the Owner that as a team, we have one common goal. We focus on identifying early on, issues or obstacles that might surface to delay or interfere with the effective execution of our projects rather than having to react in the field. We are an organized and qualified group ensuring a successful project result that is completed on time and within budget.
We perform work as both a subcontractor and also as a general contractor. Typically, if the majority of a project is composed of earthwork and utility installation, we play the role of the prime contractor. When the utility and site work is a smaller portion of the work, we will subcontract to reputable general contractors. Our reputation with clients is one built on trust, and we are careful who we team or subcontract with to ensure that they have similar core values and level of client commitment. Throughout our company’s history we have done many underground pipeline projects on Anchorage’s two military bases where the company developed a very strong working relationship with the Army Corps of Engineers. We are proud to have been awarded the distinction of Outstanding Contractor several times.
GMC Contracting, Inc. enjoys a high level of respect within the construction community as well. The company is managed by owner Greg Clayton. Daily company oversight is the responsibility of Vice President, Todd Bethard. Todd is a registered civil engineer. Greg keeps close involvement in all company bidding, assets, and acquisition. Our success is a testament to his thorough knowledge and years of experience in the Alaska construction industry.
