GMC has a long track record of safe excavations. We own trench boxes, sheet piles and tie back anchor systems in our yard that we can dispatch as a job requires. As a responsible underground utility contractor, GMC Contracting, Inc. holds regular safety meetings and trains employees in issues such as safety response and environmental pollution prevention. GMC secures the proper permitting through the Municipality of Anchorage and the Alaska Department of Transportation or other governing agencies by filing traffic control plans, obtaining right-of-way permits and scheduling inspections to ensure regulations are followed.
In accordance with the Alaska Dept. of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), GMC files the required Notice of Intent prior to any work that will disturb land in accordance with the regulations. Each project has its own Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan with the required monitoring activities and reports that follow established procedures. Upon project completion, GMC follows up with the Notice of Termination after the project is secure. All job sites are equipped with spill response kits, and employees are trained in the use of those kits to minimize potential damage to the environment.
